  1. What is the purpose of the Bulk Upload Application?

The Bulk Upload Application allows users to upload and update large amounts of data in SharePoint Lists and store corresponding attachments in Document Libraries.

  1. How do I set up the Bulk Upload Application in my environment?
  • Add the solution to your SharePoint tenant’s App Catalog.
    • Approve necessary permissions from SharePoint Admin Center > Advanced > API Access.
    • Deploy the solution to your desired SharePoint sites.
    • Use the web part interface to begin uploading files.
  1. What types of files are supported for bulk upload?

The application supports .xlsx and .csv file formats.

  1. What happens if my data contains attachments?

If attachments are included:
• You will be prompted to upload attachments during submission.
• Each attachment is stored in a uniquely identified Document Set in a connected Document Library, linked by a Unique ID.

  1. How does the application handle duplicate records?

During upload:
• The user selects a Unique ID column.
• If the ID already exists in the list, the record is updated.
• If it doesn’t exist, a new record is created.

  1. Is column mapping automatic?

Yes. On upload, columns from the file are automatically matched to SharePoint list columns based on the column name and data type (e.g., Single Line, Number, Multi-line).

  1. What is the BulkUpload_Central_List?

It is a metadata list created automatically to store column mapping and configuration details for each list created using the Bulk Upload application.

  1. How do I view the uploaded data and attachments?

Use the Dashboard section:
• Select the target list from a dropdown.
• View list data, apply filters, search, and export.
• Click on attachment links to view items in their Document Sets.

  • SharePoint tenant must allow SPFx solution deployment.
    • Permissions should be granted for list/library access.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Ensure the file format is .xlsx or .csv.
    • Verify the Unique ID column is correctly selected.
            • If data isn’t saving, check for validation errors during upload.
            • Make sure attachment file names do not contain unsupported characters.
            • Clear browser cache and refresh the page if the dashboard does not update.
